Summer Fun!

I can't believe how fast summer goes by! Two more weeks and August will be over!! I apologize to those with dialup today....I've loaded a lot of pictures this time.

My friend Linda from Cobourg came to visit in July. We had a BBQ at my other friends to celebrate her visit. The kids all had a great time playing with each other!

Aidan and his buddy Luca playing together!

Here is Aidan being a cowboy....do you like his horse?? I just love a child's imagination that a pillow can be a horse!!
On July 28th I think, Eric and Aidan went canoeing on the Grand river with Eric's brother Mike and with Aidan's cousins Noah and Mikaela. Aidan still talks about it all the time and tells everyone that he went canoeing! He likes to tell you how he was brave going over the rocks!

Also on the 28th we had a house warming party. We actually had a great turnout considering that we waited till almost the last minute to invite everyone! It was lots of fun to sit and chat with many friends and to show them our new house!

Anna has discovered that she can reach the piano by herself. As you can see in the picture, she is quite proud of herself!

Here is another beautiful sunset picture!!

One morning the kids graciously woke me up on time for a sunrise too :)

On July 21 (I know this is out of order but I didn't feel like changing all the pictures) we had Brian and Alanna come down for a visit. They stayed with us. Aidan and Lucas had a blast together!! They ended up in the pool in their clothes!

We went up to Ottawa to Brian and Alanna's house 2 weeks later for the long weekend. Eric took an extra day early, so that we could drive up during the day. We stopped in Warkworth for lunch with my grandparents. They treated us to lunch in town. On the Saturday in Ottawa, we went to a beach on the river. This was Anna's first time at a beach! She loved everything about it! It's so interesting how different your kids can be! When Aidan was this age, he wouldn't even touch the sand or the water. And still now, he wouldn't go in the water.

But he still had lots of fun with Lucas's miny tonka trucks in the sand.

Lucas and Aidan also had a blast playing with all of Lucas's cars.

The kids favorite thing to do at home with Eric is to wrestle after supper....this also leads to airplane rides! When Aidan is having his turn Anna has to get in there too and she tries to climb on Eric while Aidan is up in the air.....this can cause problems when getting Aidan down, but they both think it's hilareous!

Here's my sleeping beauty in the car after her mommy made her run too many errands! Notice the chubby cheeks sagging :)

On August 11th we headed to Toronto with friends to go and see Cirque du Soleil. This was our anniversary present to each other. It was GREAT! You can't take pictures inside, so I don't have any of that. I have discovered though that you can watch a lot of it on youtube!

Packing for the cottage....don't forget Anna!!!

We spent a week at the cottage, from August 12-19. It was a great week! The weather was great. The only downside to our trip was ending up in the ER with Anna two times. On Tuesday she woke up with a bit of a cold, and by afternoon she was coughing a bit and her nose was running pretty good. But she went to bed fine. But around10 she woke up sounding very barky and was wheezing very badly. So we called telehealth and they recommended that we went to the ER. We went to the hospital in Southampton. Thankfully it was not too busy so we were seen quite quicky. By now it was after midnight and we had one tired little girl on our hands. The doctor confirmed my suspicions that it was croup and gave her a mask to open her airways up. I have never heard her scream like that in my life! My poor baby! After that he sent us home. We ended up holding her pretty much all night so that she would sleep. By 6:30 her fever had spiked to 103.9 F and we called the ER and they recommended that we come back in, so back we went. This time there were a lot more people but we found at that they bump kids to the front in this ER, so we didn't have to wait very long again. We had a very helpful doctor this time who told us what else to do and what else to expect with croup, and back to the cottage we went. So despite that and Anna being pretty clingy, we still had a great week! Here are some pictures to show you what we were up to there!

Eric had some pretty good windurfing runs. His clamp broke the first time he went out, but after using rope to fix his clamp he was able to do more. We had to rescue him twice due to offshore winds...Aidan thought that was great!

Anna loved the sand and learned how to scoop with the shovel. She preferred to use 2 though.

Anna loved the boat too. She has no fear!

Aidan was hesitant at the beginning of the week, but by the end he was sitting by himself in the boat.
Anna took her first 2 steps at the cottage...but she hasn't done it since!

We got to feed the ducks almost every day! Both kids loved it! I even got them to eat out of my hand!

Eric also got some good runs on the kneeboard too!

We took the kids across the lake to the beach... and of course Anna loved that too! We managed to get Aidan in up to his belly to scoop sand under the water....still no swimming though.

By the beach we saw this river otter swim by and then stop to eat.

Going 'fishing' in the canoe

This was Anna's first time in the canoe. I think that she just tolerated it because she very much HATES the lifejacket.

That's all for now! I hope that everyone is having a great summer! Please excuse any grammar mistakes....I don't feel like proof reading this tonight!
