Junior Scientist

On July 25th, Aidan participated in another study at McMaster University. This time they were measuring various aspects of hearing in him in order to understand the development of basic hearing skills that are necessary for language and musical acquisition. They were measuring Aidan's brain waves as he listened to sounds. They put on a spandex cap that contained sensors on his head, then they filled the sensors with ultrasound gel and connected it to a computer. The computer recorded electrical activity picked up by th sensors. While the test was running, Aidan sat on my lap and one of the people from the lab entertained him. He then listened to sounds for 20 minutes. He did a really good job! When he was done he got to pick out a toy and got a certificate declaring him a junior scientist!
