On Labour Day weekend we went on our annual camping trip with a group of friends. This year we returned to beautiful Sandbanks. Provincial Park. The weather wasn't looking too promising, so I tried to convince Eric that we shouldn't go... but he won and a camping we will go! So we got there Friday night at about 10:30, and set up our beds and went to sleep...thankfully Anna went to sleep too! On the way there Eric was passing a car and Aidan ( still awake at 10 ) pipes up and yells " Faster!" It was cute!
The kids had fun playing in the wagon before the rain started.

Saturday morning was cloudy and not very warm...but not raining yet. So after a tasty breakfast of bacon and eggs, the boys all started to tarp the campsites, and that was all done before it started to rain.
Adam is always the one who gets to climb up the trees to secure the tarps!
They did a great job and we stayed dry for quite a while! But by 4 or 5, it started to rain harder, and our sites were at the bottom of a hill...so the water began to run under the tarps. Arron and Laura's tent had about a 3 inch deep puddle right underneath it. So we decided to pack it in and get out of there. The kids were starting to get miserable, and we didn't want to have to entertain them under the tarps for another day and a half. This picture of Aidan portrays how we were all starting to feel under the tarp!

Declan had so much fun and got sooo dirty playing with his dumptruck in the mud and puddles!
So we all packed up everything under the tarps and in the tents, and then all the guys got soaking wet as the packed up the rest of camp. Then we headed to Belleville to a hotel with a pool and a hottub and swam and chatted the evening away! The kids were very hyper there and had a great time!Sunday morning we drove home, and later in the day we met at Ken and Shauna's house to sort out the camping equipment that we had so hurridly packed away. Then we all had a nice supper together ( as we still had tons of food). Then we had a campfire.
Monday afternoon we all met up in Paris and went to the Paris fair. Then to dinner at Arron and Laura's house.
This is Aidan playing his first carnival game...picking a duck..a prize everytime. He won a stuffed fish and was quite pleased with it!

Aidan found some tractors that he could "drive" and boy was he thrilled with that!

In one of the barns was a corn box, with tractors, again Aidan enjoyed that too!

Anna rode along in the snuggly and quite enjoyed it!

Eric and Aidan and Arron and Declan went down the big slide!

So we had a good weekend for the most part and we have all learned our lesson and vow never to go camping again when they are calling for remnants of a hurricane!
