O Christmas tree :(

Well, our Christmas tree doesn't seem so nice now. I'll start at the beginning.
Thurday night Eric and I were sitting in the livingroom watching TV when we heard a funny sound from near the tree. We just assumed it was the presents under the tree shifting, so we thought nothing more of it.
The next morning we were getting ready to go to Ottawa for the weekend so Eric put two full watercans in the treebase. Then a little later, he walked past the tree and got a wet sock. We thought, hmmmm, that's strange, he must of spilt some water when he was watering the tree. But then as he went to wipe up the water spot, he noticed that it was REALLY wet, so he felt in the tree base, and there was NO water left!!! So we moved the presents (thankfully only 2 are wet, and not wrecked) and lifted up the tree skirt, which was soaked, and found a huge puddle under it, and all the way under the carpet as far as our coffe table! Not exactly what we wanted to find 2 minutes before we were to go out the door! So, we turned back the carpet, took out the under pad, and soaked up what we could. We propped up the carpet, turned on a fan, and the furnace fan, and opened some windows and hoped for the best as we left.
When we got home Sunday night we found the carpet dry, but wrecked, and our hardwood floor dry, but badly cupped and stained. What a great thing to come home to! Thankfully the water did not go through to our basement. We got a tree stand from Brian and Alanna, and we transported out tree into that and now we are hoping for the best! Hopefully it will survive till Christmas!
I have no pictures to post for it, as our camera was packed in the car, but I did take some with a disposable that we had kicking around, so you'll have to come over to see them.
