Happy Birthday to Aidan...and other miscellaneous things

I got two really cute costumes for dressup at a yardsale this summer. They were $2 each. I got this dino, and a caterpillar. We just pulled them out last week and Aidan loves them! And might I add....I think he looks quite cute!!!

On Friday we had some more entertainment out our back windows as they prepare to plant cedar trees behind us on the pipeline!.

Even though Aidan will not be 3 until Wednesday, we had his parties on Saturday. We chose to do Thomas the Train as the theme for his party. He was SOOOOO excited!!!!

I made him a 3D Thomas the train for a game at the party.
This pictures was step 1: taping all the boxes and planters together to make it look like Thomas

Step 2: I wrapped it in packing paper and drew the lines on it.

Step 3: Painting. Overall this took me anout 8 hours, but Aidan loves it so it was worth it!! I left an opening in the back to put the coal in ( black socks rolled up)

On the Thursday before his party, Aidan and I made some train cookies for the party. We made them blue to look like thomas! He liked to help with the cookie cutters!

Here is his cake. I got some ideas off the internet and just kinda compiled them for this. We bought him an actual engine for the wooden railway to put on his cake. He loved it!
It took me 2 attempts on the cake because I discovered that my shortening was bad after icing the first cake. I almost puked because of the smell. So I had to start all over cake and all, as I used icing to patch the parts I ripped on the first cake. So after 3 trips to Foodland, I had enough cake and icing to do it over. I decided to skip going homemade the second time.

I got a lot of great stuf at the dollar store for his party. All the Thomas decorations were from there! I love a deal!

I have a membership at a toy lending library so I got a bunch of cars and ball pit balls out for the party. I put the balls in our pool and all the kids and Eric..... :) had a blast in it!

Our slingers of course had to go up. We put them up after Aidan went to bed on Friday. We thought that he would be so excited to see them in the morning but.....he cried and asked us to take them down. I should have warned him I guess because I know that he doesn't like change too much!

Our yummy train cookies

I also got balloons from Zehrs for the kids to take home!

Aidan putting coal in Thomas

Having fun in the ball pit!

The birthday boy with the engineer birthday hat on!

Waiting for cake!

Blow!!! All three of them at the table tried to blow out the candles...but no one could do it so I had to help a little!

More fun in the ball pit

Party part 2! In the afternoon we had a drop in open house for friends and family. Aidan's friends Jessica and Hailey came in the afternoon.

Opening presents

Anna got a birthday present too, from her Big Grandpa and Gramma Bobbe, She got a baby and she loves it!

This morning I actually got all of Anna's hair in piggies! It looked so cute I just had to take a picture!

That's all for now!
